Description
I downloaded and was ready to print Lachrymose's “UBBI - Universal Bidirectional Bowden Interconnect - Rail Mounts” but OrcaSlicer reported problems with non-manifold edges and when I asked it to repair it (Windows service) for some reason got stuck and never finished. But I'd prefer the mount sit more vertically anyway because I plan to position my drybox outside and to the side of the printer enclosure. So, I took step files from SilencedFrost (for his UBBI) and some measurements from Lachrymose's stl file to make this variation on his design.
The part is intended to sit on top of a 2020 extruded aluminum bar, mounted with a M3, M4, or M5 screw and and appropriate t-nut. The “shorter” version could be difficult to get to the screw to mount it unless you have a good ball-end hex-key driver; the “taller” one gives better access (though it sits a little higher on the extrusion). Then I late realized that screw access could be easy if the top was rotated, so made a yet -third!- version ("rotated") that tilts down away from the mounting base. (That's the one that I ended up using myself).
The files are included in two versions each, stl and step formats. You can use a step file as a start to a remix -- but then expect a file repair operation on the resulting stl for non-manifold edges.
