Description

This is the lightweight evolution of my previous mount. That original mount was made for a significantly heavier item initially, and as such was rather excessive for this tiny soundbar. So, here's the Atkins version!

I wanted to get the my Creative Air Stage V2 soundbar off my desk, so I made this mount for my monitor mount. If you have a monitor with a USB-hub, that works perfectly with this mount.

This is designed to fit on a Multibrackets monitor mount, which has a pole diameter of 35 mm. Any other brand that has the same diameter will work, but let me know if you need a different inner diameter and I can make an adapted version or simply an adapter ring. PLA holds up fine, the soundbar is not that heavy.

The clamp is perfectly form fitting to the soundbar, but is flexible enough to expand and accept the soundbar. It hasn't scratched my soundbar from taking it in and out, but this might vary with how tight you print the clamps and what material you use.

Update:

I have added a stronger clamp (actually, the one from the V1 of the mount) that is less likely to deform after long use. This one also has the added bonus of keeping the soundbar centered using it's rubber feet. I would advice using this one rather than the thin one.

Required hardware:

  • 2x M5x20 screws to install the clamps to the pole mount. You can get away with M5x16 up to M5x25 probably
  • 4x M5x16 screws to tighten the pole mount to the pole
  • 6x M5 nuts to mate with the screws
  • Some PLA

Installation:

To install the pole mount:

  • Inser the nuts in the slots on the front of the right section of the pole mount
  • Insert the nuts in the slots on the back of the left section of the pole mount
  • Insert the screws into the front of the left section
  • Clamp the halves together over the pole, and tighten the screws. Don't overtighten!

To install the soundbar:

  • Insert the nuts on the inside of the clamps
  • Push the sidebar in from the front, he clamps open to accept it
  • The rubber feet do not interfere with the clamps
  • The input jacks on the back are not blocked by the mount

To install the soundbar to the pole mount:

  • Simply screw the mount into the the pole mount from the back
  • Note! Do not use too long screws, or they might hit the back of the soundbar. I believe I used M5x16

Printing settings:

The soundbar is very light, and shouldn't require much material. The new clamps look very thin, but I have tested them for several months, and it's no problem. Increase the density of the clamps if you're worried. I used the following settings:

  • 4 perimeters
  • 15% infill
  • Adaptive Cubic for the pole mount
  • Gyroid for the clamps
  • PLA should be fine, I wanted the matte look to match the monitor
