Description
I started using ABS and PETG a lot in my prints and started noticing funky smell during and post print without realising that these filaments give off some nasty fumes. Previously I conceptualised and came up with Tingkat - Creality K1C HEPA and Carbon Filter Air Scrubber but I am missing a scrubber before the air is released to the surrounding.
I decided to go back to the drawing board and design a low air resistance activated carbon filter for the exhaust fan. Fitting a 80mm filter on the 60mm fan improves the airflow while having good air scrubbing capabilities.
To maximise the exposure of activated carbon pellets, the pockets in the container are angled 30 degrees downwards.
To prevent the activated carbon container from sliding out of the fan hood due to the vibration during prints, a small latch/ catch is designed at the top of the hood so make sure that you insert the container in the correct direction. The lid to the holder faces the fan.
If you prefer to just have a HEPA scrubber, do check out Tingkat Buddy - HEPA attachment for Exhaust Fan (Creality K1C/ K1). Between microplastics and VOC, I chose to scrub off VOC.
How I printed it
The models are already in the right orientation for printing.
