Description
These are stackable bowls for holding or sorting small parts and hardware. The socket in the top of the bowl will accept a 3/8dia x 1/8thk neodymium magnet and the socket in the base of the bowl will accept a ¼-20 socket head cap screw.
You can use whatever ¼-20 screw you like as long as the length does not exceed 1/4in or it will push out the magnet on top. The central bore (thru hole) is sized such that you can just insert the screw without tapping beforehand. It will form its own threads without cracking the walls. If it does, printing with more perimeters should generally solve the problem. You can also install a magnet in the base if you like (the counterbore is the same diameter), but you need to be aware of the polarity of the magnet in relation to a mating bowl otherwise they will repel each other.
I would suggest some kind of glue or epoxy for more stability when installing the magnet and/or screw. It is not needed, but will help the components from coming out when separating the bowls from each other or from a steel surface after repeated use.
As seen in the photos, they can be printed in different colors to be used for sorting good and bad parts as with the red striped bowls.
Print with at least 2 perimeters to prevent the part from cracking when pressing in the magnet or inserting the screw. Supports on build plate only recommended.
