Description
This is an exact replacement for the main parts of a Microjig GRR Gripper GR-1. Included are the two sides, middle, and top. I didn't duplicate the handle, You can find it by NightMyst at https://www.printables.com/model/591443-microjig-grr-ripper-style-handle/files
Included are:
For the sides and middle, I’ve include 2 .stl files each, one for the rubber bottom and one for the hard plastic “block” part. The rubber (bottom) part of each piece can be printed in TPU, while the main plastic block part can be printed in PLA or PETG. You can print them separately and glue them together or if you have a multi-filament printer such as the Prusa XL or MMU, you can slice them together using PrusaSlicer. The .3mf files are for a multi-head Prusa XL.
If you're printing on a multi-filament printer, then the two pieces will interlock just like the factory Gripper. While you could print with the rubber part down (which involves fewer tool changes), I’ve found it best to print each piece on its side. This seems to make the TPU more “sticky” when you actually use the block to push wood through a saw. I guess printing with the TPU down makes a smoother surface, which is less useful in this case.
If you're printing the rubber and block pieces separately, you'll need to cut off the small locking ribs on the TPU piece before gluing.
I printed the 3 sides with supports, 0.2mm layer height and 25% infill. The top piece can be printed with 0.3mm layer height.
Threads (10-32) are printed right into the pieces and seem to hold up well. If you want, you can drill these out larger and press in a heat-set nuts.
