Description
This is a simple knurled thumb screw for M5 hex head screws. I use M5x30 hex head cap screws for this, which leaves about 19.5mm - 20mm of thread extended past the thumb screw shoulder. You can use any length screw, depending on your needs, but would suggest no shorter than 16mm.
The M5 hex head cap screws fit very snuggly into the thumb screw, by design, so you'll need to force the screws in there. Once started, you can use a nut to tighten down the screw to help seat it on the bottom.
I've included a tool that is useful for gripping the thumb screw, both for when installing the hex head screws inside as well as for torqueing the thumb screws.
