Description

New version! Check the filenames!

Changes from v1 to v2 (check the picture with blue numbers):

  1. Reduced the ventilation holes from 3 to 1 to facilitate cleaning the case with isopropyl alcohol.
  2. Increased the length of the hollow of the internal part to facilitate the introduction of the mask.
  3. Rounded corners to avoid injury from the box while handling.
  4. Reduced thickness from 1.6mm to 1.2mm in order to reduce material usage by more than 30%. Durability is not affected.
  5. Due to the previous point, the overall size of the case has been reduced by almost 2mm. Especially noticeable in thickness.
  6. The internal size of the box has been maintained. Enough for larger and thicker FFP2 masks.

Description

Unfortunately, COVID has become a "regular feature" in our lives and masks are an essential accessory.

Normally I carry everything in my pockets so I needed a box to store my mask, small and sturdy, here it is.

The box measures little more than a small wallet and is suitable for both FFP2 and surgical masks, although in both cases you will have to fold your mask.

Usage

How to insert your mask into the box (check the picture with yellow numbers and follow the steps that correspond to the model of your mask):

  1. Surgical: Fold the mask in half following the shape of your nose.
FFP2: With the mask closed, divide the mask horizontally into 3 more or less equal parts and fold it on itself by one of them. Some masks have lines that you could use as a guide.
  2. Surgical: Fold the mask back on itself perpendicular to the previous fold.
FFP2: Now fold over the previous fold following the second line that you imagined in the previous step.
  3. Use the rubber of the mask to prevent it from opening and make the next step easier for you. Simply pass the rubber to the other end of the mask, it is not necessary to bend it or tie any knots.
  4. Slide the mask into the inner box. You will be able to recognize it because it is the part that has the shape to put your fingers, it is also the one that has the largest holes.
  5. Close the box by sliding the outer part over the inner part. In principle, if your mask protrudes a little you should not worry, the outer part has some extra space for the mask, it also has some tabs inside that will prevent it from opening.

To open the box you will have to make light pressure on the two finger-shaped marks.

Cleaning

If you want to disinfect it you can do it!

  1. To do this cover the small hole of the inner part with your finger
  2. Pour some isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) through the opening.
  3. Close the box with the outer part.
  4. Cover the hole from the outer part with your finger too. Keep the two holes covered.
  5. Shake the box for a while.
  6. Open it and let the alcohol drain.

Printing Tips

There are two models, inner and outer, for one box you must print both of the same version.

They have a tolerance of 0.25mm which should be sufficient for any printer. If you can't slide one into the other, try shrinking the inner box a bit (1%~) in your slicer.

It must be printed with at least 2 perimeters and can be printed with 0% infill.

Printed in PLA and with several months of use it only shows slight scratches on the outer box (due to my keys in my pockets).
