Large Functional Ladle - No Supports and Glue Required

December 11, 2024
Description
This is my design of a large and functional ladle. It is printed in two parts that securely clip together. There are no supports needed for this print, and I recommend printing it using PETG, but PLA also works for this model.
How to Print this Ladle
The bowl LR2210-68-B.3mf
is printed with the flat side on the printer bed. The handle is printed on its side. If you print with PETG or ASA, you probably need a small brim around the tip of the handle.
There is a Prusa Slicer example project LR2210-68 Print.3mf
where all recommended settings are made. You can also see the correct orientation of the parts. Alternatively, check out the settings in the table below:
Nozzle Size: | 0.4mm |
Layer Height: | 0.2mm |
Filament Materials: | PETG, ASA or PLA |
Perimeters: | 3 perimeters for the handle 2 perimeters for the bowl |
Infill: | 0% for the handle 15% for the bowl |
Prusa Slicer Profile: | “0.2mm Quality” |
Assembly
First, slide the hook from the handle over the H-shaped rib on the bowl. Slide it all the way down until there is almost no gap between the bowl and handle.
Next, press the L-shaped tip of the handle over the bowl's rim on the other side until it clicks into place.
Be careful if you printed the model with PLA, it is brittle and may break if you apply too much force.
Dimensions
You find the most important dimensions of the ladle in the drawing above.
Why I Designed a 3D-Printable Ladle
I have larger buckets of paint I often use, and I'm not particularly eager to pour paint from large buckets into smaller containers. There is always some left on the rim and dripping down the side. Also, sometimes dry paint comes off from the rim and ends in the other container.
So I designed this ladle in various sizes to scoop the paint from the buckets in well-defined amounts, and I can leave them in the paint bucket until I need them again.
Conclusion
I hope you find some uses for this print. Please rate it and upload photos of your prints if you like it.
Happy printing! 😄
