Description
Note! There is now a V2 version of this toolhead cover available. Multiple fixes and improvements, including STEP file support and a removable fan duct. You can find the new version [here].
Didn't like how the Ender 5 Max had no airflow from the front, which was causing poor overhang quality in that direction, so I made a new toolhead cover / fan duct that splits the flow so that it covers the front and sides.
I printed this model using generic PETG-CF. You can use ABS or ASA as well, but I would not recommend PLA if you have installed the enclosure on your machine.
The fit on the fan is so snug that you really don't need the screws from the original toolhead, but if you want to secure it more firmly, use 3 M3x16 screws and 3 M3 threaded inserts.
EDIT: Added a 2nd version with longer ducts for non-stock nozzles. However, in testing this version seems to also work with the stock nozzle, so I would recommend using it over the short version. I'll be leaving the short version in for compatibility with shorter nozzles.
When printing this model:
Split the model into parts within the slicer (It's composed of the main cover and a custom support)
Main cover:
Use 0.2mm layer height
3 walls for 0.4 nozzles
(optional) Fuzzy skin - 0.3 point distance, 0.08 thickness
Add supports to the areas in the picture above
Custom support:
3 top layers
2 bottom layers
2 walls
6-10% infill (hexagon)
Max speed 100mm/s
