FYI Parametric FreeCAD source pending… I need to get the support files cleaned up and published then I can publish the source file for this one.
A basic hobby paint rack system somewhat inspired by the Ultracryl Paint rack but designed from scratch. The lever action was helpful, but most of the rest of the Ultracryl model would have needed heavy modding.
I started by designing for a steeper angle, and made the system modular so racks could be changed to different angles as needed. Starting with an eye for reducing print time and filament use. The rack covers a third of the bottle instead of a half, and should be fairly well weighted.
Designed to be compatible with Gridfinity and also my forthcoming hex-based organizer.
This initial set of files cover 25mm diameter bottles, which has been tested with Vallejo 18ml, Reaper Mini 0.5oz, and shorter Army Painter 12ml bottles.
Print at least two base side panels of the same angle (Left, Right, or middle), at least one tray and a sufficient number of levers to fill the tray(s) printed.
All the trays of a given size (e.g. 25mm) will fit into any of the corresponding sides with different angles.
Optionally print 2 clips per base/side that you want to stack and connect vertically
Print the files in the orientation they have been saved with, including the side walls laying flat on the print bed.
Make sure the rounded dovetail pegs are clean and fit into the slots, then push the tray down into first one side and then the other. Once they are settled, set a level down into each slot, then you can place bottles in.
Assembled pieces with the same number of bottle slots should stack easily on top of one another.
The next main point is to add simple clips that can be used to secure a tray onto the one it is stacked on for the middle base.
