Description
I created this beadlock disc for a 1:12 scale model of Tatra T815 VE
You can use it on any similarly sized model.
You can also remix the front of the disc to suit your application.
It consists of:
* outer disc
* inner disc
* locking ring
It has self-aligning feature, so it is very simple to assemble and align holes for screws-
It's designed to be easy to change the ET and only affect the outer part of the disc. The inner part and the ring do not change. That's why it's good to experiment with.
ET is a variable in the Onshape document. Just change the ET, export and print just that outer part of the disc.
Disc fits tires with 48mm inner diameter, it is for 1.9" family.
This disc has ET 9mm
The disc is for a wheel from AliExpress called "4PCS 100MM Rubber 1.9 Wheel Tires for 1:10 RC Crawler Car Axial SCX10 AXI03007 D90 D110 Tamiya CC01"
It will probably fit others with the same specs.
Designed for a 14mm HEX adapter, I'm using Traxxas #4954 which assumes a 6mm axle. I'm using axles again from Traxxax #5454 and these have a 5mm thread on the nut.
You only need 3 screws to tighten the disc, the rest of the positions can be occupied by a dummy screw.
The screws I used to tighten are M3 Allen screws 6mm long. They can also be 8mm long
Nut to secure the disc to the shaft: Self locking hexagonal all metal nut with collar DIN 6927
I print the disc with 3 perimeters with 20% infill.
Before screwing the disk in place, drill the screw holes with a 2.5mm drill bit.
Updates:
2025-04-20 - Changed inner model to accept 6 or 8mm long M3 screws, so when you tighten disk ideally, all the end of screws is aligned with the edges of the plastic bosses. The plastic bosses are 0.2 mm shorter than the screws. also prepared a version that accepts 6 mm long screws.
This makes it easy to see that all screws are inserted to the same depth and ensures the disk won’t visibly wobble when rotating. It also helps you know when to stop tightening. The screws should be flush with the bosses, or slightly recessed, depending on the thickness of the rubber tire you used.
The updated models include the inner part (STL and STEP). Just combine any ET version of the outer part with the inner part for proper screw length.
