Porsche 991/981/718 Magsafe Phone Mount

A MagSafe phone holder for Porsche 718, 981, and 991, designed to clip onto the center-console trim.

I made this after seeing similar phone mounts being sold for a lot of money and decided to design a printable version.

This version keeps the phone close to the driver and in an easy-to-reach position. It works well, but depending on how tightly it is installed, the front edge may contact the leather trim. I have updated the model with more rounded edges to help reduce the chance of scratching.

Newer Version Available

I also made a newer version that mounts near the glove box compartment instead:

The newer version is less likely to scratch the leather and stays farther away from the gear lever, but the phone sits slightly farther from the driver.

Fitment / Orientation

This model is designed for LHD cars.

For RHD cars, mirroring the model may work, but I have not personally confirmed it.

Print Material

Do not print this in PLA.

Car interiors can get very hot, especially in direct sunlight. I recommend ASA or another heat-resistant material. PETG may work, but ASA is preferred.

Installation

Slide the bottom of the mount into the trim first, then clip the top over the trim.

If the fit is too tight, slide the mount slightly toward the rear of the car.
If the fit feels too loose, slide it slightly toward the front of the car.

Before fully seating the mount, check that no sharp printed edges are pressing into the leather. If needed, lightly sand or file the contact edge for extra protection.

MagSafe Magnet

This mount uses a standard MagSafe-style magnet ring:

• 46 mm inner diameter

• 54 mm outer diameter

I personally removed the magnet ring from an old MagSafe charger, but similar adhesive MagSafe-compatible magnet rings should also work.

Assembly

Use super glue to attach the printed parts together. Alignment/index holes are included to help with assembly.

Make sure the MagSafe magnet ring is securely glued in place before use. If the magnet holder feels loose or shaky, add more glue around the magnet ring or check that the printed parts are fully seated.

Notes
