This unit is designed to fit within 1U rackspace and be printable on a 256x256 bed. I'm not including the rack arms so either it goes on a shelf or you design them yourself.
BOM:
1x 12V 15A Power Supply: Chosen because of dimensions and is fanless. Gives 2mm height clearance for 1U rack specifcations. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07J6SBJ5L
5x 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC Power Pigtails: STLs to adapt these to the case are included. If you need build different adapters this gives you options. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CMK6ZC7X
5x 12v LED Rocker Switches: There are lots of options for these but any in this generic shape. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07T7W2P6M
2x M3 x 12mm + M3 nuts
2x M2 x 8mm
10x M2 x 12mm
One of the screws is difficult to tighten so recommend to use a hex top screw with an allen key.
Features:
Fits in 1U rackspace
Has 5 buttons for 5 different devices
Includes cable strain relief
Instructions:
- Attach the power supply first with the M3s, focus on the screw at the back of the PSU first, it will need to slide into this screw first. Best to thread the screw through the hole and with 1mm of space add the nut. The nut will be too close to the wall to spin so this is where you use the allen key to tight the nut on.
- Clamp the pigtails into the adapters using the M2 12mm screws. Look carefully at the adapters, they have correct dircection to fit the grips on the pigtails. These are then superglued to the bottom of the case, guides in the case will help with this. PLA + superglue works fine but you need patience or an accellerant.
- Prepare the pigtails but cutting them short, they only need to reach the button next to them. There is enough wire on these to wire everything up but you will need to cut them carefully or risk running out of wire. The PSU has two power outputs, I think it's best to wire 2 ports to one pair of outputs and 3 ports to the other, this is up to you. Basic pinout is this: From the pigtail, red to top pin on switch and black to bottom pin on switch. From PSU, red to middle pin on switch and black to bottom pin on switch. (Black is Negative-, Red is Positive+)
- Connect a mains plug to the PSU, wrap it or tie it around the strain relief loop in the case.
- The lid can be screwed in using the M2 x 8mm.
