Description
Someone wanted a simple model of a Willie Wagtail
I couldn't find any free models out there of a willie wagtail, at least, none that looked even vaguely like the target species. These, while they have definite issues, are close enough for their purpose (as a base for further artistic construction, ie addition of feathers etc), and I thought I may as well release them here.
Here are two models both generated by Rodin (image to model), one from multiple images, one from a single front ¾ image. The source images were also generated by Chat GPT 4o, one from a text prompt only, the other over a longer conversation with multiple source images. That second one has a slightly more idiomatic pose with tail raised.
Both models were printed successfully without further modification (other than scaling and rotation to sit flat(ter) on the print bed. They are printed with a raft and supports.
I then did some tweaking of some problem areas of both models in Blender and MeshLab. (The thinnest part of the wings and tails and wings, the leg thickness (which whole “correct” in looks, makes them hard to print), the tiny “beard” artifact that is present in the first Rodin model.)
While I believe the stl files direct from Rodin are non-copyrightable, I believe I do retain copyright over the derivative works, the tweaked models (as noted). That said, they are all provided here with the same NC licence - however that may be applicable.
