Description
This box makes a great storage, gift, eyeglass, pen/pencil, misc, USB, whatever container. I printed mine as a Prusa themed storage box to replace the zip lock bag that housed my torx, allen and wrenches that shipped with the original Prusa XL. (not exactly sure if we all received the exact same length allen and torx wrenches.)
This model takes very little supports, but it does need them. Be careful removing the supports in the hinge pockets. I used an eyeglass screwdriver with a very small flat head tip. The logo imprints are so minute, that unless you highlight them with multicolor instructions, the prusa slicer will overlook them.
I use a piece of PETG filament for my hinge pin, I designed the hinge to use any 1.75mm filament as the pin. Print the hinges up on edge, this gives them the perfectly round profile. Make sure that filament runs through channels with ease individually before gluing or trying to thread filament through them all together for the first time.
The pieces fit snugly, but I was able to push stuff together with my fingers without tools. I did not have to utilize glue to hold it together or function. I do recommend glue for hinge pieces, but I also recommend dry assembly first. 1 or 2 swipes of sand paper may help, if you run into trouble.. just keep an eye on not marring finished edges.
So, fit and finish are top notch.. I must have printed at least 10 before everything was dialed in. Insert latch until flush with top of lid.
