Dymo LabelManager Plug and Play PnP 3.3uF SuperCapacitor Mod

The Dymo LabelManager PnP is a great USB printer with one issue, It KILLS its batteries. I'm not sure of the root cause of this though, it delivers 8.3V that should be sufficient for a protected 2S lipo pack. 

There are people out there modding the device to run on Alkaline PP3's, or external transformers. However I dont really like that, and wanted to so something different, so I tried using a 5V to 8V boost converter (LM2577 based), but it couldn't deliver the required current. (it was meant to deliver 3A, but only gave 0.8A short current.) maybe the USB cable couldn't deliver the current from my 2013 Mac's USB 3.0 port (I guess the Mac its limited to 1.5A)?

So I believe the best solution without needing external power supplies or batteries is likely a Super capacitor rated for 9V. This will allow for a longer life cycle (1000x more charge discharge crcles than LiPo), and be suitable for the voltage range. We dont need the capacity of LiPo, as we have a power supply while the device is connected to a PC, we just need a power buffer for use while printing. 

Assuming a LiPo 7.2v 630mAh battery gives us 4.5Wh of energy, and prints around 100 labels on a portable device, we want a super capacitor that can print at least 1 label from a full charge. 
One easily sourcable Super capacitor that is suitable is the CZP-9R0L335R-TW that will give us 0.032Wh, Time will tell if that is enough energy to complete a print
