Notes:
This is a 205mm template to help build diy barrel heads for the Choice 8.25 Qt. Stainless Steel Bain Marie Pot. Its features are simple but adequate for generating your own DIY Badmo Barrels. Its outside diameter is 205mm to ensure about 2mm extra of diameter for a 203mm fit into the linked Pot above. There is a center locator, and two locators for the bung and the spigot. Here is a list of some of the sourced items I used:
My general steps. I toasted the oak for 30 minutes and then planed the edges square. I used the router bit to create a joint between the individual staves that were joined with beeswax. I used the template to draw a circle, and mark the center on the toasted side of the oak. I used a band saw to freehand cut the circle out, and then a sander with a makeshift jig to sand to final dimension. The template was used again to mark the approximate location of the bung and spigot and those were drilled out with the forstner bit. The weed burner was used to put a heavy char on the underside of the barrel head and quenched with water. The spigot was screwed in by hand to one of the holes. The bunghole was reamed. The head was press fit into the barrel with a shop press. Then the barrels were filled with water and the bung smacked into place to test for water tightness.
I also made a simple stand to keep the barrels from rolling around: https://www.printables.com/model/1277855-badmo-barrel-stand
