Description
Buddy camera is great when You are not close to the printer and need to check that everything is OK with the print. But it is not very good for watching the printer print.
If You are like me then You enjoy watching the video live while model is being printed and this is simple way to get great video.
This setup uses Raspberry Pi Zero v0.2 with WiFi, but other RPi's can be used as well. It is paired with Raspberry camera V3
I ran the flat cable through the gap in the frame and set RPi on the outside because it is to hot inside the printer chamber for RPi's electronics. I do not recommend that You put it inside.
Camera seems to be OK.
Software is just a standard OctoPi that is not beeing used to control the printer, only to stream camera feed over network.
Watching the stream is easy, just connect OctoPi to your network and note down the IP address, then point your browser to:
https://your_IP_here/webcam/?action=stream
or as I prefer: open network stream in VLC
Models use M3 screw, M3 nut (square or hex) and 5x2 magnets (16 pcs).
You also need some small screws for camera and RPi itself so open that box with assorted hardware and go hunting.
P.S stream.zip file is video I recorded with this setup so check it if You want to se how it looks.
