Description

There are a lot of different overhang print test object available already. I created this for the following features:

  • Larger base for good bed adhesion.
    • 50 mm outside diameter
    • 12 mm wide “legs”
    • 5 mm blocks of each degree change,
  • larger “legs” to better simulation of larger objects. It has enough volume for some infill besides the perimeters.
  • Six “legs” for more directional information on part cooling performance.
  • Directional arrow printed on the base for positioning and identification if the object gets disconnected from the print plate and threw around.
  • Each block shows the degrees.

The last image from the print shows the object just after it was knocked off its original position due to bad overhangs. Picture is taken with version 1 and using a Stealthburner Toolhead.

 

Filament used

SUNLU PLA+2.0 - Orange

 

Update v2

  • After 50 degrees incline, the remaining blocks are 5 instead of 10 degrees increments.
  • Cosmetic changes.

NOTE:

Managed to print (PLA) without failing all the way to 90 degrees overhang using my own design Toolhead for my Voron 2.4r2. As can be seen in the 2nd image, there is a little “drooling” at 90 degrees, but the new cooling system managed to control it and finish it!

I will publish this Toolhead when I complete all my tests and have printed various objects. As of now, is running at 12,000 mm/sec/sec and 800 mm/sec.
