Description
250825 Update - v02 adds a row of 7mm holes. I thought jumping from 6 to 8 would be sufficient, but sometimes you need to gauge how much to increase 7mm holes.
250809 Update - Printing with glass filled nylon gives very different results, resulting in smaller holes than PLA. This gauge is very helpful when switching materials. It lets you know how much to change the hole size, or scale the model.
This gauge allows you to select the appropriately sized hole for your project.
I've designed and printed several parts where the through holes have been too small, even after putting in some tolerance. This is mainly an issue with small hole sizes, so I made this. It works great for screws, pins, and threaded inserts.
Printing this in OverturePLA gave me the following results:
1.5 fits into 2.0
2.0 fits into 2.5
3.0 fits into 3.5
4.0 fits into 4.4
5.0 fits into 5.3
6.0 fits into 6.3
8.0 fits into 8.3
However, Bambu Lab Matte PLA does not give the same results. Be sure to print one for each of your different materials if you want accurate sizing.
Seam position was set to random to minimize start/stop filament build up in the holes.
