Description
A simple mount for the inexpensive L80 module from Quectel. This GPS module is based on the mediatek MTK location engine. Find more details here: https://www.quectel.com/UploadImage/Downlad/L80_Hardware_Design_V1.1.pdf
The mount makes sure all the rules for the mounting as mentioned in the datasheet are followed.
This also adds a CR2032 button cell to keep the SRAM and RTC alive. At 7uA that should last quite a long time.
I use a copper tape at the bottom of the mount to form the ground plane. this enhances the reception of the patch antenna.
Assembly
Use the images to assemble.
Make sure to use a good copper tape and some flux to solder to it.
The copper tape is protected from oxidation by some packaging tape.
