Description
A quick model to help choose a hole size for whatever purpose.
I used this to determine what size to make holes for some dowel pins to get a tight press fit, and for some M4 bolts to get a fit allowing the screw thread to cut.
Choose a hole size, and a clearance “step” and it will generate options tighter and looser than the chosen size, by the step size. Eg diameter 4 and 0.1 step will make a range of holes of diameter 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 to test fit.
You can also use it with the method of making self cutting thread holes - just choose the tightest slip fit and use that as the hole diameter, adding the “ribs” inside that.
