Description
The Wyze Cam V3 is an excellent, affordable little camera to monitor your printer, but it has one fatal flaw... focus distance! The camera comes with a fixed focus that's approximately 3 feet to infinity, which makes monitoring 3D prints and other close objects a problem.
This print allows you to easily adjust focus on the fly with the stock Wyze lens, allowing you to monitor your 3D prints, or use the camera for normal wide angle views out to infinity.
To install, follow this excellent video that shows how to access the lens (not my video). I deviated from the video slightly by not completely removing the lens - you only need to slightly heat up the lens to break the threads loose so it can be focused. Also, I did not remove the entire internal camera body (secured by 2 center screws on the PCB, seen at 5:20 in the video). Finally, I removed the thick black rubber gasket that surrounds the end of the lens. If you don't remove this, the focusing knob has no gap to fit into. THIS WILL DRASTICALLY REDUCE THE WEATHER PROOFING. Since I have no plans to use this camera in a wet/dusty environment, this isn't a concern for me.
