3D Printed 10" Network Rack Mount for Netgear GS305PP and PDU Power Switch

As part of my classroom network setup project, I’m building 10" 3D-printed racks for my students. They'll be configuring and testing real-world networks, gaining hands-on experience with real hardware. There's no better way to learn networking than by building it from the ground up!

Rack Setup:
I based this design on the LabRax 10" Server Rack (5U), which you can find here: LabRax 10" Server Rack. While this rack design is a solid starting point, the Horizontal+Edge+Solid piece is a bit too large for a Prusa MK4(s) build plate, so I had to get creative. Fortunately, a friend’s son was able to help with some of the larger prints.

Adding a PDU for Power Management:
To keep things organized, I designed a PDU Power Switch Mount for attaching to the back of the rack. This makes it easy to control power distribution to your devices without crawling under desks or digging through cables. It’s a simple but effective way to add a professional touch to the setup, while also keeping things safe and accessible for students.

Printing Tips:
For the best results, print all rack mounts face down, with supports for the “top” to ensure stability and strength. Here are my recommended slicer settings:

  • Vertical Shells:
    • Perimeters: 3
  • Horizontal Shells:
    • Solid Layers: 6 top, 5 bottom

Power Strip:

This mount fits this specific power strip:
