Description
This Sun Protection Case for CMF Phone 2 Pro shields your phone from the sun - helping to prevent overheating while you enjoy the outdoors - whether you're at the beach, the pool, or just hanging out with friends on a sunny day!
This Sun Protection Case has internal dimensions of 166mm (~6.53") long by 81mm (~3.18") wide by 13.8mm (0.54") high. Â Be sure to measure your phone (with its protective cover if it has one) before printing!
If you have a multi-color printer (MMU or AMS), you can print the version with text (as seen below) AND you can change the text to whatever you want in PrusaSlicer...
To use the Sun Protection Case, simply place your phone in the Sun Protection Case face-up with the top of your phone closest to the case hinges. Â Close the lid to shield your phone from the sun's rays. Â Ribs inside the case allow you to prop up your phone in various positions so you can see your phone's screen while still shielding it from the direct sun.
The Sun Protection Case's sturdy design protects your phone when it's on the ground...
The ribs inside the bottom of the case help prevent scratching the camera lenses that protrude from the back of the CMF Phone 2 Pro. Â The ribs are omitted from the area where the CMF Phone 2 Pro camera lenses are located.
The ribs inside the top of the case allow you to prop up your phone to use it while still shielding your CMF Phone 2 Pro from the sun's rays!
Ventilation slits all around the case promote air circulation to help make your CMF Phone 2 Pro the coolest phone at the beach!
PrusaSlicer 3MF files have been provided for single-color printers (with pauses where manual color changes should be performed) as well as for multi-color capable printers (those with an MMU or an AMS - where the color changes are automatic).
G-code files have been provided for the Original Prusa MK4 (versions with and without an MMU3).
A STEP (.stp) file is provided so you can adjust the Smartphone Sunscreen Case to perfectly fit your phone and any accessories that you've added. Â Or you can resize the provided model by changing the "Scale factors" values in PrusaSlicer. Â Use the Comment feature on Printables to let me know if you need assistance with resizing models in PrusaSlicer or if you want to request a different size Sun Protection Case.
The Sun Protection Cases seen in the photos were printed on an Original Prusa MK4 with White, Black, and Orange Prusament PETG with a 0.4mm nozzle at 0.2mm layer height with 3 perimeters (for strength) and a 10% or 15% honeycomb infill.
For best cooling performance, I highly recommend using white (or very light colored) filament for most of the Smartphone Sunscreen Case (to reflect the sunlight) and black (or very dark colored) filament for the interior bottom and top surfaces (to block any remaining light) - as seen in the illustration below. Â At 0.2mm layer height, the black stripe should begin at layer 17 (z = 3.4mm) and switch back to white at layer 22 (z = 4.4mm). Â Colored stripes are optional - purely for looks!
Informal testing on a sunny 28 degrees Celsius (83 degrees Fahrenheit) day provided a 17 degree Celsius (30 degree Fahrenheit) reduction in the phone temperature versus a phone without the Sun Protection Case - a warm phone versus a phone that's too hot to touch!
ASSEMBLY
--------
The Sun Protection Case prints as two parts - the top (flat outside surface) and the bottom (indented outside surface to allow airflow under case). Â Assembly consists of simply snapping the two parts together as described below:
1 - Place the top onto the bottom on a hard surface (with the hinge balls above the hinge sockets), then place the palm of your hand above the hinges.
2 - Slowly, but firmly, push down onto the top until the hinges click into place.
3 - That's it! Â You're now ready to shield your CMF Phone 2 Pro from the sun!
