Description

Wanted to secure my Kaser 5G Omni antenna more firmly to its metal mount, so I went ahead and created an adapter to be printed in TPU which adds more optional mounting points and has a sleeve that keeps the antenna more stable. I also added a fully modeled antenna and metal mount, the latter without the geometry on the vertical side since I didn't use it

The additional mounting points will need 4 holes to be drilled in the metal plate

Printing

Use TPU for the adapter, print it with no supports and have a decent number of walls + infill to make it strong. Other materials may crack since it's an outdoor piece

BOM

I initially designed this part with slots for 4 additional M5 bolts which would secure the tpu mount, but I noticed that they are not really necessary, as the screws that go through the antenna + the sleeve already do a great job. Still, I kept them in the design shall you want to use them

  • 4 4x20 wood screws to mount the antenna to the metal plate. Screw them slowly to avoid cracking the plastic. Alternatively, you could use 3x20 screws but I haven't tested them
  • 4 M5x20 bolts, head type isn't important
  • 4 M5x10 (or less OD) washers
  • 4 M5 nuts, locknuts are preferred

Mounting

  • remove the two small screws at the base of the antenna
  • slide the antenna in the adapter, and align the two screw holes on the side. Reattach them
  • mount the antenna to the metal frame using the 4mm wood screws
  • if you want the additional m5 bolts, mark their hole position, remove the antenna assembly and drill the plate, then reattach everything and install the m5 bolts
