FlagStick: Simple Compact Status Signs

Sometimes a simple flag is all you need. FlagStick is a compact, adhesive-mountable status indicator you can stick just about anywhere—lab doors, pet gates, tool benches, or anywhere else a quick visual cue helps.

The design uses three simple parts: a slim wall mount, a rotating axle with knob, and a friction-fit status flag. Push up and turn to flip the flag and show your current status depending on what you choose to put on each side of the flag. It’s narrow enough to fit on a door frame without sticking out too much, making it ideal for tight or high-traffic spots where horizontal flags that take up a bunch of space won't work well.

This version includes multiple pre-made flag options showing SAFE and DANGER in all combinations (single- and double-sided), plus a blank you can customize. It works well with AMS for multicolor prints, or you can print it in one color and label it however you like—with a marker, tape, or labels.

You can also print multiple interchangeable flags and reuse the same setup to switch between different messages—useful if you want to indicate different statuses in different situations without reprinting the whole thing.

Assembly is easy:

• Attach the holder to the desired surface with a command strip or double-sided adhesive tape.
• Slide the axle through the holder bore hole
• Slide on the flag, it will friction fit.  Affix with a touch of glue if you want it to be permanent.
