Description
I spent way too long on this model. Starting from the usual shades and thickening of the model I was playing around with the pose thinking about a sword stance - I settled on one and tried my best at adjusting the pose to fit. The model was splitting in weird ways so I had to get into weight painting and other ARP settings. Once I had this figured out I realized that the sword I was was crooked so I ended up modelling a longsword pretty well from scratch (using parts of the previous one as a template for general shape). I modelled a new "grab" hand pose and attached those to the sword. The pose put the modesty flap in a weird position so I knew I wanted tassles coming off in the other direction so I used some cubes and subsurf modifiers - I'm really really happy the result there and kinda want to use this style a lot more. For facial sculpting I tried not to spent too much time because otherwise I tend to end up like a plastic surgeon - I did add eyelids though and otherwise tried to keep details subtle but I still have a lot of work to do here..
I filled in the gap on the underside and optimized for printing - filling in internal gaps and other wonky topology. I find flowing bits are a pain to remove FDM supports from and don't add much value. I should have maybe used dyntopo to smooth out the edges afterwards but we'll see what it looks like on the test prints.
For FDM I'd recommend printing on her side with the sword straight up. I'll do a test print and post that as well but I expect this'll give the best results!
