Description
This is a complete re-build of the laundry detergent lever by PeaRidgeHillbilly.
I think that the little button on the top of the laundry jugs spouts are hard to push, and this idea was great. Many have arthritis, and find ordinary items harder to use than others. Taking the que from this, I redesign it. I re-built it from scratch using some of the previous measurements.
I first printed this out and used it as is. I printed one for the soap and the softener bottles. But when I changed the bottles out, I had to pull out the screw driver and wrench.
I then put a wing nut on it to replace the nut, so I wouldn't have a need for 2 tools and then found I couldn't tighten it up enough without a screwdriver.
I decided to use locking levers, like used on other things like bicycle wheels and seats.
I'm in the USA, so the conversion of the Metrics is still in the works for me, so use an appropriate size if I screwed it up. ;)
There are four files total. The Collar, Push lever, Collar lock and Pin. I made the tolerances lose, so there would be no issues.
Hardware Needed.
1 - M3 x 25mm screw.
1 - M3 nut for the lock lever and pin.
1 - M3.5 x 40mm (I believe an will work) I used an SAE #6-32 screw for this. (that's all I had in that length).
* Use the 40mm or #6-32. For the push lever on top.
Used to attach the push lever onto the top of the collar. I made the hole on the opposite (left) side a little smaller, so the screw will cut its own threads into that hole, so no nut needed.
* Use the M3 x 25mm & nut for the lock lever, insert the pin into the lock lever. Insert the M3 screw through that and into the collar. Put the nut on the screw. The lock lever screw can be tightened up in place, once on the container.
After the screw and nut are installed, you can adjust the tightness of the collar after slipping it over the spout. It won't have to be tight just snug to keep it from slipping.
Now you only need to lift the lever and move it to the next jug.
Hope this works for someone who needs a little help with their hand problems.
Update: I have added a cup holder option after requested. You can use the same lever, pin and handle files in conjunction with this. Just print the cup holder instead of the collar.
