This CPAP tube guide is a great companion for your next cruise, or anywhere you're staying that magnets will hold to the walls.
The generous size and chamfer at both ends allows a CPAP tube to slide easily, and the rounded opening helps insert and remove the tube effortlessly (when printed in flex material, as recommended).
List of other known uses
- It's a fantastic general purpose hook for ferromagnetic walls.
- A pair of them seem to attach together nicely around the drinking tube of my hydration system, to weigh it down while drying (looks like a railway coupling).
Required hardware
- A 20mm x 10mm cylindrical magnet (e.g., N52 neodymium one)
- Message me if you'd like a different size
Design features
- The 23mm inner diameter easily accomodates a CPAP tube.
- The edges are chamfered and rounded for easy handling.
- The model is large enough to pass the small parts test for children under 3 years old (please supervise your children and use your judgment at all times).
- The magnet is fully embedded and can't be removed (safer than a glued-on magnet).
Printing instructions
- I recommend flex with 25% infill.
- Slice the .stl file to include a pause after the magnet cavity (around 25.6mm, depending on your layer height and which magnet size you're using).
- Insert the magnet during the pause.
Tips
- Optionally add a dab of glue before the magnet to prevent any rattles.
- Check that the magnet orientation is suitable for your use. (A pair with opposite polarities will store easily back-to-back.)
Included .gcode file
- The .gcode file I've included has a custom pause algorithm after layer 25.6mm. Upon resume it will extrude a bit and begin a 4 second move to give you time to wipe excess material.
Safety notes
- This is not designed to come into contact with the air pathway of your CPAP tube, but make sure to follow all directions from the CPAP manufacturer.
- Magnets can be dangerous.
- Please supervise your children at all times.
Notes
- I designed this model in OpenSCAD and it's fully parameterized. If you'd like a simple modification (i.e., magnet size, inner diameter, length), send me a message and I'll see what I can do.
