Suggested Name: Kaelen Vancruz
Race: Draconic (Draconic Bloodline: Bronze - Lightning Breath, or Gold - Fire Breath)
Bronze would give him lightning breath, which could be visually interesting for a character who "glows" with holy light. Gold is a classic for heroic paladins.

Draconian Racial Traits:

Draconic Ancestry: Choose a dragon type. This determines your Breath Weapon's damage type and damage resistance. (Example: Bronze for Lightning, Gold for Fire.)
Breath Weapon: You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. The damage type and shape of the area are determined by your draconic ancestry. When you use your Breath Weapon, you can't use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
Bronze: 5-by-30-foot line (Dexterity save).
Gold: 15-foot cone (Dexterity save).
Damage is 2d6 at 1st Level. The saving throw DC is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
Damage Resistance: You have resistance to damage of the type associated with your draconic ancestry (e.g., Lightning if you are Bronze, Fire if you are Gold).

Hit Points: 10 (1d10 + Constitution modifier) at 1st Level.

One martial weapon and one shield, OR two martial weapons. (Suggestion: The longsword he carries.)
Five javelins, OR any simple melee weapon.
One priest's pack OR one ranger's pack.
Mail (heavy armor).
One holy symbol.
Divine Sense: With an action, you can detect the presence of Evil and Celestial within 60 feet. You can use it a number of times equal to 1 + your Charisma modifier.
Lay on Hands: With an action, you can touch a creature and restore total Hit Points equal to 5 times your Paladin level (5 points at Level 1). Optionally, you can spend 5 points from your pool to cure a disease or nullify a poison.

Paladin Oath (Choose at Level 3, but you may consider it now):
Oath of Devotion: If you seek a classic champion of justice and light.
Tenets: Honesty, Courage, Compassion, Honor, Duty.
Oath of Vengeance: If your paladin seeks retribution for some past injustice.
Tenets: Combat the greater evil, no mercy for the wicked, restitution, sacrifice.
