Description

This is a simple paper towel holder to be mounted on an 18mm shelf side-wise.

The model uses standard M24x2 threads. The inner threads are already adjusted to an additional 0.2mm offset, which should be enough to allow easy and smooth movement in most cases.

How to print:

  1. File bracket-main is the fixer for the shelf. It can be printed without supports (but the quality might depend on your printing settings). Make sure the thread is intact when printed.
  2. File tube_100mm_15mm_20mm - 3x - the main cylinder on which the towels will hang. Supports are not required. Printing vertically (inner thread should be on the bottom)
  3. (Optional) File fixing-bracket-22.4mm - this bracket is to be mounted for additional support (against really strong human beings). The bracket is of the size of the inner thread and should fit tightly enough
  4. (Optional) To improve the strength of the tubes, you can modify the 10 mm (5 mm + 5 mm) where the outer thread starts to have higher filling (e.g. 50% or more). This is the weakest spot (e.g. if you try to overtighten when screwing). This is applicable when printed vertically. You can also improve the strength by doing diagonal print, but then supports are required

Printed as (and works):

  • PLA+
  • 0.4 mm nozzle
  • 0.2 mm layer (including the bottom) for all parts. (Optional) You might try a variable layer height on  bracket-main to improve the rounded part
  • Supports are not required, but can improve the final quality for bracket-main
  • Infil: 15% (partial 50% for where the thread starts - check how-to-print 4)

Assembly:

  • 1x bracket-main
  • 3x tube_100mm_15mm_20mm
  • 1x fixing-bracket-22.4mm
  1. Screw the three tubes together
  2. Screw the tubes into the main bracket
  3. Hang the assembly on the shelf
  4. Put a towel roll on, while holding the assembly
  5. Slide in the fixing bracket
