Description
I really wanted a killer goat for my Curse of Strahd campaign but there wasn't anything that really evoked the "Oh Shit" reaction that I was looking for so I spent some time today to create this critter. I used the rock generator in Blender to create some rocks for it to stand on.
For this model I did my usual process of thickening the model but I avoided remeshing until I was happy with the sculpting work. First I posed the model into a sort of leap / towering rage - with the Armature I resized the model quite a bit as well because the original had a super long and the typical short body that AI cattle seem to have. For sculpting I did several subdivision / multi-resolution layers adding more fur each time - using the draw and inflate tools as usual as well as a couple creases for those sharp folds. For the horns I shrank the edge loops on them to give them that rounded / bumpy goat horn effect. I used some of the teeth I put together yesterday for its mouth (for a model I'm still waiting on permission to post) and added eyes. The model originally only had two horns but I went with four - these could have had sharp tips but I find these are worse for printability and they'll still be pointy as-is.
Avoiding remeshes right until the end let me do some renders of the model with the AI shaders which was kinda neat - I haven't posted one of these in a while and am pretty happy. Sangzor looks menacing :)
This model is on a 50mm baseplate with the rocks - I have a couple versions available printing in case you want to put it on your own base. I kinda like printing cattle models straight up but we'll see what works best. I'll post a print/make when it's ready here.
