Description

Updated to V2 (Shown in CAD screenshot - pictures are the V1 design) - Changes include:

  • Modified front with slightly thicker face/lip for increased rigidity
  • Additional material creating a vent slot for fan intake and increased rigidity
  • 1mm longer length for better fit

Being a relatively new switch from Ubiquiti, I could not find any rack mounts for this switch, especially for 10" mini racks, so I designed my own. This was a challenge as the switch itself is just about the 1U height, but with no provisions for rack mount ears. As such, the design has a very thin bottom, which mostly just serves as support for the sides that encapsulate the rounded edges of the switch.

Print both the adapter and the back plate as oriented in ABS/PLA/PETG, etc. with 4 walls, at least 4 top/bottom layers, at 40% (gyroid) infill, no supports. You may want to use arachne wall generation for the thin bottom wall, which is 0.5mm in thickness (if you have a typical 0.4mm nozzle).

You will need the following hardware:

4x M3 heat inserts (4mm length)

4x M3x8 BHCS

After printing, insert the heat inserts with a soldering iron and slide the switch into place. DO NOT use too high of a temperature on your iron - the walls around the heat inserts are thin and will bulge out slightly once the insert is.. inserted.

The small lip at the front prevents the switch from sliding out, and is secured with the backplate (mind the orientation of the backplate for the DC power jack) and the 4 M3 screws. The design specifically does not block the air vents at the front and rear of the switch and still maintains a 1U height.
