Easy-Install Hinges for Your Centauri Carbon Side Panel

Tired of removing the whole panel just to get inside your printer? These side panel hinges let you swing open the right-hand panel of your Elegoo Centauri Carbon like a door, so you can:

• Swap filament fast
• Access wiring and internals
• Clean and upgrade without unscrewing everything
   

This is a great beginner-friendly mod that makes your build easier to live with and feel more pro.

What You’ll Need

Here’s everything you need to get started:

Print Files

• Included .3MF file contains hinge parts for different panel spacers (5 mm)
• Use a stiff filament for best results (see filament tips below)

Spacer

• You’ll need a panel spacer to support the hinge and hold your fasteners
• We recommend the 7.5 mm Centauri Carbon Panel Spacer. It's thin, strong, and compatible with internal spool holders

Hardware

You’ll want:

• M3 screws (typically M3x10 or M3x12, depending on spacer)
• Knurled brass heat-set inserts (way better than press-fit nuts, cleaner and stronger)
• Optional: a heat insert tool for installation

Filament Recommendations

You’ll want something stiff and heat-resistant. Here’s a quick guide to help you pick based on your setup:

⚠ Avoid basic PLA if you run high chamber temps or leave the panel open for long periods, it may warp or sag.

🛠 Print & Install Tips

Print settings:

• Use 0.2 mm layer height or finer for smoother hinge movement
• Print hinges lying flat to maximize strength
• Print pins horizontally to align layer lines perpendicular to sheer forces

Assembly tips:

• Use a heat-set insert tool to melt the brass inserts into the spacer
• Don’t overtighten the screws; snug is good
• Let parts fully cool before installing to avoid warping
