Description
Armored Carrier CCL "Pegasus" (Package 1)
Designed for use with minis in the "heroic" or 28mm scale as a Wheeled Armored Vehicle.
"While theoretically being one of the simplest tactical and logistical roles to fill, APCs often find themselves adapted "ad hoc" to do many other tasks during their service on the battlefield. As such, some would say APCs are best designed to be as adaptable as possible, especially since they're often the most common "armored" support a soldier will see. The Designers of the 'Pegasus' took this philosophy to heart, resulting in a wheeled APC capable of being reconfigured to multiple other roles."
For casual wargamers who desire a wheeled AFV. All parts are meant to be printed in FDM, though smaller parts could be printed in resin. The chassis prints in one piece, and comes with a splash guard that can be left unfolded or folded forwards as it would be to ford deep water. Wheels are meant to fit into their holes without needing glue. On the chassis there is a forwards mounting point for a pintle HMG next to the driver's station.
*The splash guard can be tricky to fit into it's mount, and can require a good deal of force, so be careful (this is more for your safety than the parts)! Once in it isn't really meant to be removed.
As mentioned in the fluff, this model is made with an eye towards having different configurations, allowing it to serve multiple roles in your tabletop armies or campaigns:
The "AC-CCL LD" utilizes the 'Light Duty" Turret, which is more of a flexible cupola meant to take only a pintle mount HMG and be able to rotate to direct HMG fire around the vehicle. Ideal for use as a logistical vehicle or basic APC, or other tasks where the metal box on wheels doesn't need to shoot back as much.
The "AC-CCL MD" configuration uses the "Medium Duty" Turret, mounting a remotely controlled weapon:
This allows the Pegasus to provide better fire support as an APC, as well as provide rudimentary air defense in a pinch when using the 40mms or the 25mm.
*For best longevity, the Medium Duty Turret should be printed on it's side, with the stands flat; this does result in weapons having a very tight fit, so some light sanding may be needed. You can print the MDT sitting right side up, but the orientation of the layers in the part means the stands have a higher chance of breaking along them with repeated changing out of weapons.
The "FV-CCL" configuration borrows the turret off the Greif Z.B Fighting Vehicle, allowing the Pegasus to be used as a wheeled IFV (though this comes at the cost of some passenger capacity), with the following main weapons:
Though, it should be noted that while the official weapon list is short, nothing stops units from requisitioning other compatible main weapons.
The "TW-CCL" configuration borrows the turret off the Arctos IV Heavy Battle Tank, allowing the Pegasus to be used as a wheeled tank, or "assault gun," depending on the unit's doctrine. Officially the TW can take the following as main weapons:
As with the FV-CCL, things not on the official list could theoretically be used, though one should question the wisdom of using something like a 140mm or 155mm gun on a much lighter, wheeled chassis.
Example shown printed using various PLA at 15% infill and .2mm layer height; pictured with some 28mm soldiers for scale.
