Avocado Seed Sprouter

This avocado sprouter is a seed holder for a jar or yogurt cup. It perfectly fits a Chobani or similar yogurt cup. 

This design is a result of lots of experimenting with sprouting avocados from seed and works really great at bringing a sprouted seed to leaf growth and when it's ready for planting. It supports the seed, prevents excessive water evaporation (you need to top it up less often), and it pretty nice at preventing spillage when moving around. 

Overall this should be used as just a part of the overall germination process which can be described below:

1. Seed harvest and prep: eat the avocado, clean the see (ensure not rotten). 
2. Germination: put in sealed plastic bag with damp paper towels (you can put many seeds in the same bag). Put the bag in a dark cabinet that is somewhat warm (not on an exterior wall). 
3. Sun exposure: glance at seeds every weekish (or less). If seeds have a root (extends out of the seed), remove it from the plastic bag, peel off some of the dark brown skin around the split seam, and place it root down into the plastic germination basket. Fill a cup with water and put the germination basket over the top so the root is fully submerged. 
4. Expose to medium light (not full sun, but at least a window), wait as it grows. If there is little water in the cup refill it. 
5. Once shoot is 40cm with 4 or more leaves, consider planting in a pot with soil. See the link below for good instructions on how to grow after that. 

With a good process and plenty of patience you can expect 80% germination rate with this method. Given this, growing an actual avocado fruit would take 10+ years in a tropical climate; this is to grow house plants.
