Fractal Design North front panel mod

Presentation

Simple mod for your Fractal design north. The presented design is the logos of Karmine Corp and Vitality 2 of the biggest Esport orgs in the worlds.

But you can make your own design if you have basic Fusion 360 skills. More on that bellow.

Needed materials:

6 M2.5 16mm screw
6 M2.5 hex nuts

Prints settings

Pillars

Pillars shoud be printed on their side for better strenght in the horns.

Slats

Adjust infill depending on how much you want your LED light go through the print.

I personnaly used 15% infill.

Assembly

Pillar assembly

1. Take your pillar part and pillar joint
2. Slide together the two part, it may require some cleaning with a blade or sanding
3. Add some glue in the groove between the two pillar part and wedge the pillar joint inside the groove

Front panel preparation

1. Pull on the bottom of the front pannel
2. Remove the dust protection, it's a clips mechanism
3. Unscrew the 6 screws

Slats installation

1. Screw the pillar on the front pannel frame
2. Add a dot of super glue in the groove of the slate you want to install
3. Repeat for all the slats
4. Put back the dust protection on the front pannel frame
5. Put back the front pannel on the case, top first

Make your own design

If you want to make your own slate design you can follow those steps:

1. Download “Slats to customize.f3d”
2. Open the file with Fustion 360
3. Edit the sketch “Edit this sketch”
4. Extrude your design
5. Export the slats to STL or STEP
6. Print
7. Check the assembly guide

CNC the model

I've CNCed this model with my Carvera Air. You can find the setups in the file “Slats CNC setups” I'm by no mean a CNC expert i've just started. You can see the result on the photo where the slats are made out of wood.

The file is provided as example and guidance do not run it as is.
