The Serenity Emerging from a Rift

This is the Serenity from "Firefly." It is at a good stopping point. Is it finished? Mostly, but I may revisit it later. I have a thought that I might want to scale it up by quite a bit, which means I would cut it differently to fit a standard printer.

This image doesn't conform to any Firefly canon, but I just thought it would be a cool model. This is my test print, so I haven't painted it yet. I printed it all in PLA, but used Inland Glass Magenta PLA for the interface to the wall. I have envisioned some clear PLA that Sunlu makes, but I didn't have any in my stock.

For the LEDs, I used an inexpensive $6.50 USB-powered LED string from Home Depot. It's trimmable, but I didn't do it for this model because I may use them on a larger-scale version later.

It doesn't have to be oriented as it's shown. I actually had it envisioned in a LEFT bank, but I simply wanted to use an existing screw to hang it temporarily. If you use it in a left bank, it will look like it's climbing; a right bank will look like it's diving. Since I hung it higher, I think the right bank/dive orientation works better.

NOTE: I did re-touch the purple image to eliminate the dangling LEDs, so you can see it in a cleaner layout.
