Description

This is an alternative to the plastic sharpening stone holder sold by Sharpening Supplies for use with the all metal, diamond encrusted, Diasharp sharpening stones as well as the Sharpening Supplies one sided strop. The base was printed using Qidi PLA-CF but could be modified for any filament really. PETG or ABS would be even stronger but I didn't have a need for it as the bench in plenty strong without it. A modification I am working on is adding lateral supports from the arches to the middle of the altar bed, but it's not necessary to get a good result. Printed with 15% crosshatch sparse infill and 3 wall loops were used for added strength. Layer height was 0.20. Accelerations and speeds were all set in Orca Slicer for my particular Qidi Plus 4 profiles - please edit for your specific machine. No supports or rafts were needed, but i opted for a brim even though I used Magigoo on the bed. I purchased self adhesive magnetic sheets off of Amazon (photo included) and cut them to size to fit the alter as well as the one sided strop. They held fine without any glue. The magnetism is more than enough. I used a rubber isolator pad and cut it to size to fit the feet for added traction on countertops. Gorilla “Super Glue” was used to attach the rubber pads to the feet. Please drop me a note if you print it and use it. I would love feedback for any needed mods.
