Description
Our caravan has no coat hooks and my wife and I were pondering how to fix some in a suitable place. The obvious place, just inside the entrance door, only had 9mm lightweight ply in the wall and it backed onto the shower cubicle. On questioning the caravan centre from where we bought the van, they stated that there was nowhere suitable in our model of caravan to fix coat hooks into a wall. However, during that conversation, my wife realised that we could use the type of hook that itself hooks over the top of a door. There's a gap of about 5mm or 6mm at the top of the bathroom door, which is only slightly further inside the van than the aforementioned obvious place.
I searched through the models on Printables but didn't find anything that I liked and which would fit the slightly thinner-than-normal door. So I fired up On-Shape and, taking inspiration from other designs, here we are.
The hook is about 60mm from top to bottom, 20mm wide and fits a door that I measured at between 31.5mm and 32.0mm thick. It has 3mm thick walls across the top and down the back where it hooks over the door, and 4mm walls around the coat hook, which is slightly curved for added strength. The door hook has a slight angle towards the door to grip it lightly.
I printed it on it's side with a brim in grey marble PETG, 0.16mm layer height, 4 perimeters.
