Description
SLEDGEHAMMER Dual Y axis drive. Ever wish you could get your old ender 3 to preform like newer machines without spending I a ton of money. my goal is to keep these ender clones out of the landfills and keep up with more modern machines for minimum cost.

This is a dual y axis mount for an Ender 3 or Ender 3 clone.
( mine was built on an aquila c2 platforms but this was designed using ender step file likely any ender 3 clone will work)
This was designed work with Kevinakasam's belted z axis, but would work without as well. The theory of this design was to get a ton of power to the Y axis in order to increase speeds and accels. I was able to Achieve 24,000 ACCEL on y without missing steps. I'm running this at 8k accel on Y axis for most printing. In order to get the most of this mod I suggest using direct drive and a belted z. The use of Belted Z Allows very high z hop speeds and at the same time allows the use a single motor on the z. Well still having all the benefits of a dual z axis and eliminating z any z wobble. This will also allow you to use 2 drivers for Y axis to optimize power. But you could also just T off of your single driver or some boards have two outputs for the z on a single driver so you could swap your z and y drivers around. You can also use the stock board. I have used an SKR Pico on this build as I bought machine with a broken board. To maximize the benefits of this mod you will definitely want to use input shaper and for simplest setup Klipper firmware.

This i a pretty quick mod to do if your already using Klipper I tried to make it a simple as possible with parts I had on hand.

4 - 3mm shaft 50mm long (cut to length)
1 - 3m shaft 43mm long (cut to length)
7 - 3mm x 10 screws
2 - 8mm x 50 bolts
2 - 8mm nuts
2 - 20tooth gt2 drive pulleys 6mm belt
3 - 20tooth gt2 idlers smooth 3mm bore
1 - 20tooth gt2 idlers toothed 3mm bore
1 - 16tooth gt2 idler toothed 3mm bore
1 - 5mm bolt 18-20mm in lengtch
6 - M5 x 10 cap screws and hammer nuts
2 - 3mm heat inserts
7 - 3mm machine srews 8mm
1M - gt2 6mm belt
1 - 1/8 or 3mm drill bit
1- endstop pcb ( stock one will work)
1- you may or may not need a stepper motor cable depending on your printer
I used PETG 3 walls 35% cubic infill left motor mount, and both endstop mounts need support
the 2 threaded inserts go into the end stop mount
I used the stock stock stepper motors off my printer I just pressed the stock pulleys off and the used file or Dremel to make a flat spot on the motor shaft. I would recommend drilling out shaft holes with a 1/8 bit for easier assembly
