Jedha Holy City - Star Wars

Since the release of Rogue One in 2016 I've been captivated by this locale, and the recent Andor S2 lead-up made me try to make a model of it. Super proud to share this with you.

This model also has a secret trinket or jewelry compartment underneath the city, where you can hide your own Kyber crystal ;)

According to Star Wars lore, the Holy City is located in the cold desert moon of Jedha. Its importance lies in the rich kyber crystal deposits underground, used by the Jedi for millennia to power their lightsabers. The Temple of Kyber was built on this sacred location, which became important to the Jedi and other Force believers and religions like the Guardians of the Whills and the Church of the Force. The city grew around the temple to accommodate pilgrims from all over the Galaxy.

During the times of the Galactic Empire, Jedha was occupied by Imperial forces and heavily looted to extract as much kyber as possible in order to power the secret Death Star's super laser. The Rebellion eventually discovered this plot and the Holy City's name was part of the keywords that led to the final moments before the events of Rogue One and the Battle of Yavin:

The city was destroyed by a fire test of the Death Star ordered by Grand Moff Tarkin. Not only was the temple, city and its inhabitants obliterated, but also extremist Saw Gerrera who was hiding nearby. The immense firepower eventually damaged the whole moon, which fractured and broke into unstable pieces, despite the Death Star only using a fraction of its power.

Notes:

1. Star Destroyer not included, there are many models out there (even official Bandai and other toy or scale models) that you can use. For my renders and pictures, I used “Imperial Star Destroyer Anakin Solo by @bene” . I also recommend the one by Fab365 .
    
2. This model uses components that were generated with an image-to-STL tool and  map-to-STL tool.  However we do no consider this entry as “AI” generated, because the main parts were modeled traditionally and all components were combined and modified by human work.  The breakdown of components and their origin are as follows:
   
   
   1. City walls, Temple of Kyber - traditional parametric modeling from scratch.
   2. City streets - TouchMapper used to generate an STL of the real location of the town of Alcalá del Júcar in Spain. The densest parts of the town were clipped, copied, mirrored, stretched and stitched together; additional “buildings”, domes and other modifications were further made in Tinkercad. 
   3. Rock formations - AI generated in two steps: first a human-written specific text prompt for Google Gemini, then the resulting image entered into Printpal.io to generate an STL. Cutting, copying, stretching and stitching to the main model in Tinkercad.

15% infill, lightning pattern ok.

All parts print without supports.

For the “box lid” which contains the city and the Temple of Kyber, you can use pause-and-filament change at different heights to achieve a multicolor effect even without MMU/AMS. 

With MMU/AMS, you can do whatever you want!
