Description
I also created some PNG files to emulate the image area and the white border area. It's advertised but as you can see from the screenshot on their site it's actually 8.4" x 8.4"
I print it with the front facing area on the bed so that it comes out smooth, and I add litle tabs to each corner to prevent warping. I used supports on the thick "crossbeam" where the magnet gets attached. It could probably print without supports and the “sagginess” would help keep the backing board in place… but I used supports anyway.
The backing board is an untested reference shape of the area/space where the photo and the “styrofoam” will be under a photograph. The photo and spacer slide in between the front lip and the crossbeam. It should probably be scaled down to 95% or so if printed since I did NOT allow for tolerances or slop. I plan to cut my own styrofoam as its light and bendable.
Not pictured: Flat magnetic “tape”. The Mixtiles ship with 2 - 1" x 4" inch double-sided magnetic strip. One is attached to the wide area on the crossbeam the other to the wall.
