we can all agree, for many of us right now… it's hot as Balls.. and well, my balls are hot. WFH or just in for a gaming session, with your 5090 pumping out the heat of a 1000's suns. I needed something to keep the crown jewels from overheating on these summer days. I made the Testicooler™! (Testicles not required)
Butchering a wind tunnel I made, I scavenged my 140mm 12v Industrial Noctua Fan, to ensure maximum Testicooling™ capability. now I didn't want this just for my desk, I have some space constraints so I also made a floor mount, simply pop it over the intake and bobs your uncle.
After testing this fan on one of the UK's hottest days of the year, I can confirm, the manhood became nothing more than a suggestion, hiding from the artic breeze this thing can put off.
Why the over/under engineered intake? well, I'm an engineer who worked in aerospace, Jet engines, and I wanted to Increase the efficiency of this fan for no other reason than i wanted to, and you know what….. it WORKED! a staggering 1 Watt reduction in power! (and a little quieter), based on pure guesswork and knowledge of what can be done. the flare makes the air coming into the static fan easier, and the inlet guide vanes guide the air, giving the fan an easier time!
A simple outlet can allow for future attachments to be made, or a complex work or ducting to relocate it somewhere where you can't bash your knee on it. maybe in the future….. or go and make a remix! the world is yours!
I did a smoke test to get some cool shots, I should work on my videography skills next….
Edit: It's a few days later, and in the UK, we've had some very warm days, and unironically, my balls have thanked me, the Ball Swamp clashing between the chafe walls have had an easier time. now I've already got 2 kids, and I Certainly don't want anymore, but the Crotch Goblin Makers™ have thanked me for my service to the, looks like an old leather bag down there…
any 140mm fan will work however, i just wanted some oomphhh (Even cranked it up to 16V!)
