Description
Added a flat base and an enclosure mount for the nicely designed Beacon Ventilation Knob for Core One by @Biomech to the beacon. I wanted to attach it not to the ventilation grid but to the side of my Prusa CoreOne as I plan to put the CoreBoxx on top of the CoreOne. Furthermore I made the blue (cold) part a little bit slimmer as the original didn't slide as expected inside of the base.
This is just an indicator that doesn’t move the grid of the vent. But there is already a concept in my mind how to achieve that in an extended version.
I attached the mount to the CoreOne enclosure with thin double sided 3M tape. If this is not strong enough for you, you may drill two 3mm holes into the enclosure and use the backplate with either two M3s threaded inserts or two M3 nuts with the respective counter part. This version of the beacon can be mounted to the side, the front or to any other upright surface.
For me double sided 3M Tape did the job perfectly without modifying the enclosure.
The Flat base is mounted to the Beacon mount and enclolure mount with two M3 flat head hex screws (M3x8) that go direct into the plastic. This is more than strong enough for this model.
You can view the model parts interactively in 3D here: https://collaborate.shapr3d.com/v/Daw2jdluk2jKpnGjxyZpV
On this page you will only find the remixed and new files. You can download the other original parts on the authors page.
For those that want only a flat base to glue the beacon where ever you want there is an additional file (flat base only.stl) available for download.
I printed everything in PETG as it is my preferred material, but PLA will deliver the same results.
Sliced with Prusa slicer. 3D modeling with shapr3D.
I printed all parts with 0,20mm layer height structural, 2 perimeters and 20% support. But there ist much room for other settings.
Please show me your printing results and send me fotos of your makes. I like to see how you use this model. If you have ideas for improvement don’t hesitate to send them to me in the comments. I will try to incorporate your suggestions and will modify the model for special needs if you ask me to do so.
And of course a like ♥ or a rating ⭐ of the design are always welcome.
happy printing,
