This allows mounting of dimmer switches to control the lights of an Airstream basecamp. The interior LED lights are too bright for many times.
The Dimmers - Acegoo 12V Dimmer
Assembly: (Sorry i didn't take pix)
- Remove faceplate (a knife behind and it pops off)
- Unscrew the switch mounting carrier
- Label the wires - the top wire from each switch is the output, the lower is the 12V input
- Unplug the wires so u can work on it
- Pop the switches out of the carrier - a thin knife or screwdriver helps by wedging in from behind the switches.
- Trim away the long sides of the rectangular switch holders. you will need to remove some more meat at the base to allow the dimmer to fit.
- Superglue the printed faceplate - i snapped on the existing faceplate first to help center the printed piece.
- These dimmers require a ground connection. There's a white wire feeding to the stove into which u can vampire. Best to check you have 12V between the white wire and one of the infeed 12V wires.
- Cut off the push on terminals of the wires to the switch u are going to . I used Wago connectors to connect everything up.
