Description

My house has some of the old style narrow wooden shutters. The wooden pin which the shutter slats pivot on can easily break leaving the shutter slats laying crooked. This design creates a replacement pin with a flat piece of plastic to glue the replacement pin to the shutter slat.

To use this part first make sure the hole in the frame is clear and is about 1/4" in diameter. Make sure that the end of the shutter slat is smooth and no remains of the pin are present. a utility knife or file can be used to clean up the end. Next place the replacement pin in the matching hole on the frame and put a small amount of gel type Cyanoacrylate glue on the flat plastic wing. Do not glue the pin onto the slat because you won't be able to put it into the shutter frame. I know I show a photo of a pin glued to the end. I had one slat with both ends broken off so I could glue one pin directly to the slat. Make sure not to get any glue on the pin or between the frame and the wing. Move the shutter slat into place and hold for 60 seconds. You can also use masking tape to hold it in place while the glue dries.

The photos show an earlier design without tapered wings. The latest design has tapered wings and a round central portion. I've also included the simpler rectangular wing style which is shown in the photos.
