Description

Needed extra shelves for my ikea billy in order to put plastic cases with easy access. You can use of course to other uses.

Tested with 40mm billy but you can use with the 80mm billy with 10mm plywood or different woods types.

How much weight support?

Tested with about 15kg of weight on one shelf, but I think can hold more. Intended to use with 5mm plywood to make it flush.

BOM

  • 5mm plywood (for 40mm version), each shelf dimensions were 363x216mm if you use the normal version of the stl, attached version without rim/bump stop to fit full lenght if you want
  • 4 metal bolts 4x15mm for each shelf, it's important, needs to be metal bolts with flat seat, not wood/drywall.
  • 4 small wood bolts 3x20mm, its optional, started using these to fit the plywood to the plastic part but noticed it's faster and better use hot glue.
  • Hot glue, to fit the plywood to the plastic parts

Printing instructions

  • Use at least PETG
  • 5 perimeters
  • Mirror to have the rest of the parts (normal version), with the no bump version you don't need to mirror.

How to punch holes (bolted version)

Put a nail inside the hole and sit the plywood to make a mark then drill with 3mm bit.

Mounting instructions

Just attach the plastic piece to the existing holes, take care if you use a bolt longer than 15mm, you can pass the other side.

I recomend to use hot glue to fit the shelves to the plastic pieces.
