Description
I removed the factory subwoofer and installed an aftermarket one in the center console of my 2002 Jeep TJ (Wrangler). After doing that, the factory cubby in the center console was too deep, so I needed to replace it. The factory one also sucked for organization (I did not need cassette tape storage)
I modeled a new version that worked better, providing proper clearance and making the cubby better suited to my storage needs.
On this model One big thing I changed from the factory was to include an extension at the back where two 5mm heat-set inserts can be installed to attach the center console lid. On my Jeep the metal clips used to screw the armrest/lid on are all wallowed out and no longer hold the lid securely. This model allows you to remove the metal clips and instead use two 5mm heat-set inserts (installed from the bottom) with appropriate screws to attach the lid.
You can also use 4mm heat-set inserts for the other 4 mounting points, or use rivets like the factory cubby did.
I printed this out of ABS-GF to give it some heat resistance, and added modifiers to the rear tang and mounting holes to make them 100% infill for added strength, but that is probably not necessary. A 3mf file is included that should include those modifications.
This was printed on an X1c, and just barely fits on the print bed. Use the “Lay on face” tool (manual selection, or auto should work too) to place it bottom down on the plate (sorry my modeling skills are crap and I can not be bothered to figure out hot to fix this in Fusion), then use the “arrange” tool with “Auto rotate for arrangement” enabled to orient it diagonally on the build plate.
you will also need supports enabled because of the overlap of the mounting rim at the top. I just used normal(auto) and they worked well and were very easy to remove.
If you like the model, but hate the organization, the top where it mounts to the console is a pretty good fit just like the factory, so just cut off the bottom and redesign it. I have included the f3d file and a step file, so it should be pretty easy.
The subwoofer I used was the JBL BassPro Nano from Crutchfield:

I created a mount for that too. That is posted here:
